Cholesterol levels can be too low, it’s a simple fact of life, and unfortunate fact of life in some ways. Essentially speaking, when you have more cholesterol in your bloodstream, you have problems, and generally speaking your body actually keeps up so even if you are not taking in a lot of cholesterol, it will make up the difference to account for your daily needs. So low cholesterol is not that common in short.
However, there are occasions in which you actually get low levels of cholesterol, and it’s actually not a good thing. If you get too low, it’s just as dangerous to your heart as high cholesterol would be. In addition, it has been associated with an increased risk of certain types of cancer, and other studies have associated it with depression and anxiety. It may reduce levels of serotonin in the brain, or at least that’s the current theory.
The upper levels have been established. However, the lower levels depend on the person. There is definitely a line somewhere where anybody would be too low. But to some degree, it can vary between individuals. Either way, if you find that you do have this problem, it’s worth dealing with and obviously your approach to cholesterol would not be the same as somebody else’s in general terms.
